Katie Morley, Consumer Affairs Editor reported that the rise of free returns and online discounts mean that more than half of all purchases are now being made online. Stores with no high street presence have particularly benefited from the change, with Asos and Amazon taking nearly 50p of every £1 spent with online retailers in 2015 according to figures from the Office for National Statistics.
Excluding groceries, shoppers now make 51% of their purchases on the web up from 48% in 2015
